His name is Gonzalito and he is our baby. It took us 8 months to build him (almost as long as a time it takes to make a baby). We planned out each and every corner ourselves, cutting each piece of wood individually. The van build was extremely hard work, grueling at times as we were both working full-time and only had time to work on him on the weekend. But in the end, it was totally worth it!
The kitchen! AKA the most important room of life. Can you believe that we had the same amount of counter space in the van that we do in our apartment? Our kitchen in Barcelona is teeny. But the good news is that this trained us to cook in a tiny space bemove moving in the van.
The living room. While in warmer climates we always eat and chill outside, when it is cold we spend a lot of quality time hanging out in here! Which is why it was super important for us to have an L-shaped couch in order to maximize chill space.
The bedroom. While many people cope with a super small bed in their van, this just wasn´t a sacrifice we were willing to make. We need our space when sleeping. Snuggling in the summer heat with no AC just ain´t gonna happen! We are more like the “hey this is my side of the bed don´t come here” kind of couple. By using two twin mattresses we were able to easily fold it up into a couch while keeping the large size.
And here she is at night! We love cozy lighting. Instead of putting LEDs on the ceiling, we used dimming LED strips on the side walls. This was also a cheap and relatively easy option.
And here he is from the back! Our “garage” underneath the bed is always full of climbing and windsurf gear. If you want to see details of our van in more detail, watch our van tour on YouTube!
