In 2019, my husband Claudio and I escaped from the 9-5 to embark on a 6-month journey around Europe in our self-converted van, “Gonzalito”. It took us 8 months to design and convert the van into a cozy place to live, it is our prized possession!
We decided to go on this trip because we wanted a period of complete FREEDOM. Although we both had jobs that we loved, we wanted to have a period of time where we didn´t even have to think about work. No work obligations, no work-related stress, no being in the office when you would rather be doing something else, nothing. We wanted to completely disconnect from the real world, live in nature, and spend each day doing what we love. After two years of saving and preparation, we finally were able to fulfill our dream!
Our days were filled with lots of climbing, windsurfing, and of course making delicious plant-based meals in our van. It was on this trip that I became inspired to start this blog. If you have even the slightest urge to live in a van, I highly encourage you to do so! Van life is simply the best.
Now we are back in Barcelona living in a real apartment, you know, like normal people. However, we still frequently take Gonzalito on weekend trips, usually to go climbing or windsurfing. We just can´t let go of van life completely!
On this blog I will be sharing van-friendly recipes, tips and tricks on how to organize a van kitchen to make the most out of the space, our van build, and other fun stuff about van life in general. Stay tuned!
